Molly’s “SURPRISE!/ I’M SHOCKED!/ NO WAY!” face is terribly hard to capture. Even that ^^^ isn’t really it in all its glory. It’s the best I’ve gotten, though.

Baby Dolls
Posted on April 26, 2010
Molly loves a good baby doll. In fact, “baby” is one of her favorite words. I think I’ve mentioned before that she doesn’t like dolls that cry, though.
Here she is when I first handed her this doll:

Here she is when I pushed the button to make the doll laugh:

Aaaand, here she is ten seconds later when I pushed the button to make the doll cry:

(^^^ That picture cracks me up.)

Easter- Part One
Posted on April 8, 2010
This year, Jacob asked me if I thought the Easter Bunny could bring him “some of those eggs with the candy inside… instead of those eggs that are just squishy inside like he always does”. Essentially, he was requesting plastic, candy-filled eggs as opposed to the ‘real’ eggs the Bunny usually hides.
Kids.
So this year we had two Easter egg hunts. I can’t just do plastic eggs.
The day before Easter, Jacob dyed the eggs (while Molly napped- Sorry Molly! Maybe next year…) and we hid them and had a pre-Easter egg hunt.

Before I go any further, I should tell you that Molly is going through a really cute phase of making a SURPRISED!!! face whenever she thinks it might possibly be appropriate. It looks a little like this:

… and she made that face Every. Single. Time. she picked up an egg. Adorable.
Jacob still loves finding eggs. Even after all of the eggs had been found, he hid them again himself and then would exclaim, “I found another one!” whenever he plopped one into his basket. (Basically, he was giving the verbal equivalent of Molly’s face above.) Well, you did hide them, son.

It took Molly a little while to get the hang of the hunting process. You pretty much had to lead her to an egg, fend off Jacob from picking it up first, and then watch the SURPRISED!!! WHAT IS THIS?!! HOW EXCITING!!! face, followed by this:

Molly still has a love for balls… and those eggs sure looked a lot like balls to her. Can you tell that she’s throwing the egg in the last picture? It wasn’t too bad on the grass; it became quite messy when she’d throw them on the sidewalk.
They had a great time- even with the “squishy” eggs. I’ll post about the Easter Bunny’s arrival in Part Two.

SHOES.
Posted on March 16, 2010
Molly has replaced her long-time ball love affair with a shoe devotion. She wants shoes on as soon as she wakes in the mornings. At home, if you look up and Molly’s gone, don’t worry- she’s sifting through the ’shoe basket’ in the laundry room. The girl loves shoes. (And jewelry… but that’s another post entirely.) She keeps shoes on her feet unlike any baby I’ve ever seen. And if she happens to lose a shoe, NOTHING else can be accomplished until she gets the shoe back on her fat little foot.
And, it’s not just HER shoes that she loves; she is an equal opportunity shoe lover. I can tell whose shoes she’s wearing by listening to her coming my way. CLOP CLOP CLOP means she’s wearing Sal’s big shoes. SHUFFLE SHUFFLE SHUFFLE means she’s donned a pair of Jacob’s. (She doesn’t often wear mine. Hmmm. My shoe taste must be as bad as Sal has suggested if a baby that loves shoes usually shuns them. Or maybe I just put away my shoes rather than leave them scattered about like the boys here.
)
Anyway-
Here’s how I caught her the other day:

Molly’s Days

Sweet childish days, that were as long
As twenty days are now.
