For Jamie

Posted on November 22, 2009

A couple of days ago, I had my last remaining wisdom tooth removed.  (Therefore I am left with no wisdom?  Makes sense.)  This afternoon, I had the pleasure of photographing Jamie and her beautiful family.  I’d like to extend my utmost gratitude to J and her gang for not remarking on how horrid I looked.  ;)   Here’s a preview for the gorgeous (and polite) crew before I take my half-swollen head to bed:

Someday he’ll look back on this and laugh.

Someday.

Remember our Johnny Appleseed?  “Nobody else had them’s pants cutted,” Jacob glumly said when I picked him up from school that day.

I can’t wait to hear his remarks this afternoon.  ;)

It is Dress-Like-A-Native American-or-Pilgrim Day at Jacob’s school today.  (The ‘First Thanksgiving’)  I tried to encourage him to be a Pilgrim because I saw a super easy Pilgrim costume: black pants, black shirt, big white paper collar, EASY.  But, of course, he wanted to be an Indian.  So this is what we came up with:

:P

When I saw the fake fur in the craft aisle, I knew it would be perfect to show that he had hunted a buffalo (in Massachusetts???) or something.  OBVIOUSLY.  We even painted fake arrows and a quiver on the back of his super-snazzy pillowcase vest.  But when Sal saw the fur, he said, “Is he supposed to have scalped somebody?!?!!”  Um, no.

Can’t wait to hear what Jacob’s classmates and teachers say.  Hopefully he’ll explain the fur if necessary.  ;)

Working on…

Miss A and Mr. G

Posted on November 16, 2009

Sunday afternoon, I had the pleasure of photographing A and her little brother G in Youngsville.  It was a ridiculously fun session and I think we got a lot of good shots.  :)   Here is a little preview for mom:

Say What?

Posted on November 11, 2009

I am finding that I don’t have a lot of time to blog about my own kids lately (other than to slap up a few pictures and run) and that makes me sad.  :(   I miss writing down little anecdotes about the things they say and do so that I will remember how they are at ages 4 years (J) and 11 months (M).  I don’t see myself having a lot of free time in the weeks to come, but hope to be back to my old bloggin’ ways after the holidays.  For my sake.  For my bad memory.

(Of course, I’ll still have posts for clients, as well.  ;) )

One thing I have been wanting to write about (for my memory) for a couple of weeks now: my first parent-teacher conference with Jacob’s teachers.

Most of their comments were expected- he’s creative, likes to listen to stories, needs to practice throwing and catching, is well-mannered and a good student.  :)   Then, they told me he never talks in class.  They said he is “more of a thinker” and asked if he was a late talker.  *This is the moment I began laughing.*

I thought they were being sarcastic.

They weren’t.

This child has been talking nonstop for the last three and a half years.  I have to remind him that not every person in the grocery store shares his interest in Egyptology.  I have to tell him to stop trying to persuade the smokers outside of Subway to kick the habit.  He talks incessantly (at home), giving me little or no time to respond to what he’s saying before he’s on to the next statement.

If there is one thing Jacob IS, it’s a TALKER.

But, apparently at school, he’s all talked out.  And that is unbelievable.

Especially for the SAO guys ;)
