Adjustment
Posted on August 23, 2009
We have had such a busy few weeks lately! Lots and lots of changes and adjustments to make:
I’m not particularly renowned for my housekeeping abilities, so for me, the new house means a lot more time spent thinking about how much more I need to get done.
And, poor Molly. At the old house, if she wanted to follow me to another room, she didn’t have much ground to cover. Here, she can make it maybe halfway before I’m headed back in the other direction and she has to turn around and try to catch up again. When you crawl like Molly, that’s a lot of work. Also, she has discovered that ‘no carpeted floors’ equates to a much less forgiving fall.

Perhaps no one has experienced more change than Jacob, though. First, he started a new school and then, three days later, moved to the new house. He’s loving his new bunkbeds and all of his new outdoor space at the new house, by the way.
He claims to like school, and seems to be adjusting well to the new routine. After his first day, he announced, “I think I’m gonna like it at school- I already got a few new girlfriends… but I forgot to ask their names”.

His new school is much, MUCH different from his beloved Montessori school in Shreveport, so the transition has had a few hiccups. But now that he will acknowledge that he does, in fact, sit at “Table Two”, he and his new teacher are getting along far better.
What adjustments has Sal made? Hmmm…, I guess his commute is a bit longer. Oh, and he also now spends a great deal of his time ‘reminding’ the rest of us not to scratch the floors or mess up the new furniture.
Overall, though, we’re loving the new house, enjoying the new neighborhood, and adjusting well to all of the changes (other than the cleaning bit- ha!). I haven’t hung a single picture or painting on the walls yet, but once I do, I’ll take pictures of the finished place. For now, though, I should probably go… sweep… or… something.
I LOVE the two pictures above and what you did to them. Even Matt, sitting behind me said the one of Jacob looks like a Norman Rockwell. The one of Molly is so timeless and old-fashioned looking.
love the pictures..and i know that is a workout for Molly and a change for Jacob but he will work out just fine…..and I bet he has the girlfriends…
Love the pictures. Poor crawling Molly, I can just picture her doing what you described. Jacob and already with all the girlfriends, that is hard to imagine. : )
Thank you! And, I DO pick up Molly from time to time.
She doesn’t spend TOO much time chasing me around.
Betsy- Thanks! Can’t wait to photograph your babies next month.
Jacob is so cute. He belongs on a cereal box… or something.
