Weekend Fun
Posted on August 31, 2009
We had a busy weekend… which, among other things, included this:

Poor Molly. (A second after that was taken, she was all smiles, by the way.
)
The kids and I went to Baton Rouge on Saturday to go to Pottery Barn. (The kids REALLY wanted to go to Pottery Barn. I was just the chauffeur. True story.
) After hitting up PB, I took both kids on the carousel at the Mall of Louisiana and had one of those moments I hope I can remember forever: Molly squealed with delight ALL THE WAY AROUND the whole time we were on the carousel. Jacob repeatedly yelled, “YEEHAW! Ride ‘em cowboy!!!” I’m sure we looked ridiculous, but it was awesome.
One birthday party, a couple hours in the kiddie pool, and a few restaurant visits later, here we are back at Monday. Lots to do, lots to do.
Before I go, I have to share this sweet picture of my baby boy. He thought he must look like a lion with the furry blanket wrapped around him and asked me to take his picture so he could see. I happily obliged… because he looked like the cutest some-version-of-a-lion EVER. Right? >>>

My mom is going to love this…
Posted on August 25, 2009
My mother made some of my clothes when I was a baby.
This is one of the dresses she made for me:

I don’t think I wore it until I was a bit older than Molly, but I found it while putting away her clothes and figured I’d give it a shot.

Nine Months
Posted on August 24, 2009
It’s hard to believe that Molly is nine months old today.

Molly, as a nine month old:
- still only has two teeth!
- can eat more mashed potatoes than any other child on the planet! I am certain of this.
- LOVES balls. I think she would go crazy in a ball pit. CRAZY.
- lives a life where everywhere she goes, people tell her she’s beautiful. Can you imagine???
- loves “This little piggy went to market…” Gigglebox.
- loves her brother, her daddy, and her Aunt Amber.
- is still the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen.

Adjustment
Posted on August 23, 2009
We have had such a busy few weeks lately! Lots and lots of changes and adjustments to make:
I’m not particularly renowned for my housekeeping abilities, so for me, the new house means a lot more time spent thinking about how much more I need to get done.
And, poor Molly. At the old house, if she wanted to follow me to another room, she didn’t have much ground to cover. Here, she can make it maybe halfway before I’m headed back in the other direction and she has to turn around and try to catch up again. When you crawl like Molly, that’s a lot of work. Also, she has discovered that ‘no carpeted floors’ equates to a much less forgiving fall.

Perhaps no one has experienced more change than Jacob, though. First, he started a new school and then, three days later, moved to the new house. He’s loving his new bunkbeds and all of his new outdoor space at the new house, by the way.
He claims to like school, and seems to be adjusting well to the new routine. After his first day, he announced, “I think I’m gonna like it at school- I already got a few new girlfriends… but I forgot to ask their names”.

His new school is much, MUCH different from his beloved Montessori school in Shreveport, so the transition has had a few hiccups. But now that he will acknowledge that he does, in fact, sit at “Table Two”, he and his new teacher are getting along far better.
What adjustments has Sal made? Hmmm…, I guess his commute is a bit longer. Oh, and he also now spends a great deal of his time ‘reminding’ the rest of us not to scratch the floors or mess up the new furniture.
Overall, though, we’re loving the new house, enjoying the new neighborhood, and adjusting well to all of the changes (other than the cleaning bit- ha!). I haven’t hung a single picture or painting on the walls yet, but once I do, I’ll take pictures of the finished place. For now, though, I should probably go… sweep… or… something.
